That old afternoon song
Was always missing the C
Raised up by three
Or is it one and a half?
Oh please don’t laugh
I don’t read
Music at all
I just hear its call
On an old afternoon
Who is missing the sea
And also missing me
Because I don’t come to play
Or at least not in that way
If at all anymore
I go to that cupboard
I look at a ten year old jar of dried sage
And there’s another half full
So I combine the two
And I throw the old jar away
But not the old sage
It looks fine and it tastes
Like the last meal my father made
For me when I stayed
With him for three days
And oh how we laughed so hard
At Allo’ Allo!
I said it was like
A pantomime
And he said “Oh how true!”
And we laughed our way through
To an old afternoon
When I kissed him goodbye
He was so sweet and kind
Mellow my mind
Yellow
Yellow hoodie man
He was a Goodies fan
